It seems like just yesterday the world was shocked and devastated by http://ift.tt/25TDCKA the 2013 Boston Marathon attacks. But just as the hashtag goes, the city and its residents have been #BostonStrong, embodying resilience. Perhaps no one has showed greater strength than bombing victims Patrick Downes, Adrianne Haslet-Davis, and Marc Fucarile, who crossed the finish line of the 2016 Boston Marathon yesterday.

Both Downes and Haslet-Davis have had leg amputationsinjuries sustained from the bombings. But they both completed the Boston Marathon yesterday with smiles on their faces and the whole world cheering, President Obama included.

Thank you, Adrianne, for being Boston Strong. Terror and bombs can’t beat us. We carry on. We finish the race! https://t.co/55hmcsCHbJ

Footage was captured of Downes crossing the finish linewith an impressive 5:56:46 finish timewhile embracing his wife, also a victim of the 2013 attacks. After the race, he told local news station WBZ that he ran the race for the four victims who lost their lives because of the tragedyand for his city at whole. What’s more, he crossed the finish line at 2:49 p.m.the exact time at which the first bomb exploded at the finish line in 2013.

Gives you chills, right?

The best real http://ift.tt/T1Uklu talk, though, came from Marc Fucarile, a survivor who lost both of his legs in 2013, after he finished the wheelchair race. With a huge smile on his race, Fucarile joked with the local news that he was “glad it’s over!” and relied on a Bluetooth speaker to keep him going through all 26.2 miles.
